Girl Up focuses on learning and teaching girls and young women about the global gender issues that affect them such as gender-based violence, access to education, child marriages inequality etc.

We equip girls and women with leadership skills (a foundation course on leadership) and mentorship so that girls are taught to take up space by assuming leadership roles in society. This increases girls' confidence and participation in global gender issues thereby promoting gender equality.

We believe after any girl or young woman has been part of this movement, theey will be ready and equipped to lead the way to change in any place they find themselves in.

Girl Up Testimonials

Michelle Madzima

I joined girl up zw in 2019. Being part of this amazing group of global gender champions has been quite an honour. Learned how to screen myself for breastcancer and had a very informative breast and cervical cancer screening day.

Lubelihle Mazithulela

From as far back as I can remember, one of my long term goals was to work with likeminded individuals in my community so as to promote a safe space for young men and women alike. Joining the GirlUp community has afforded me a platform to work alongside influential individuals.

Tapiwa Silumbu

My experience with girl up Zimbabwe has been amazing and fulfilling. I joined girl up Zimbabwe in January 2022 and l have never looked back. As a child rights advocate girl up Zimbabwe has offered me platforms where l have been able to develop my leadership skills mainly focusing on equity for young girls and women in spaces where they are unheard or underrepresented.
